Events for the Marketing Industry: From Google to Generative AI

We’re excited to be hosting a series of events for marketing leaders across Manchester, bringing together agency founders, in-house marketers, freelancers and PR and brand professionals for honest conversations about what’s shaping the industry right now.

To kick-start the series, we’ll be tackling one of the biggest strategic shifts in search and brand visibility in years: what happens to brand visibility when AI becomes the first place people go to find answers.

The way people discover and evaluate organisations is changing. Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews aren’t just search alternatives, they’re becoming the default discovery layer for a growing number of audiences. When someone asks an AI what agency to use, which brand to trust, or which product to buy, the answer they get isn’t a list of links. It’s a generated response, shaped by sources and citations across the web.

For marketers, PRs and brand leaders, this creates a genuinely new strategic challenge. It’s not enough to rank. The question now is: how does an organisation appear in AI-generated answers, and what’s shaping those answers?

This challenge sits at the intersection of PR, content, brand, reputation and analytics, and requires a broader response than simply monitoring rankings or traffic.

Introducing the AMEC GEO Principles

Last month, the International Association for the Measurement and Evaluation of communication (AMEC), the global body for PR and communications measurement, launched its GEO Principles: the first international framework for measuring brand visibility, reputation and influence in an AI-led search environment.

This session introduces those principles in practice. Attendees will leave with a clear framework for understanding how an organisation appears in AI-generated answers, what sources are shaping those answers, and what it means for their marketing, communications and reputation strategy.

The session will be led by James Crawford, Managing Director of PR Agency One and a board director at AMEC. James is one of the UK’s leading voices on PR measurement, reputation and AI in communications, with recent work focused on how organisations can understand visibility and influence in an AI-led world.

He brings a practical, evidence-led perspective to GEO, helping senior marketing leaders cut through the noise, separate hype from meaningful measurement, and understand what generative AI really means for brand trust, communications and commercial impact.

Who should attend?

This session is designed for senior marketing and communications professionals across agencies, in-house teams and freelance practices, including:

  • Founders and Directors of Marketing and PR Agencies
