Meet Ceri Jones from SoSquared, a member of Exchange at Department Bonded Warehouse.
To celebrate International Women’s Day WHICH WAS THIS WEEK on 8th March, we’ll be shining a spotlight on some of our own members making a difference in the creative, digital and tech industries. THIS FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS CERI JONES FROM SOSQUARED, MEMBERS ON THE START-UP EXCHANGE PROGRAM AT DEPARTMENT BONDED WAREHOUSE.
SoSquared are a two sided marketplace connecting businesses with content creators.
How inclusive would you say your industry is?
I have been lucky enough to work in various creative businesses that are formed primarily of females. I would say this is probably due to the industry I work in, but in recent years I’ve not felt my gender has been a disadvantage in a hiring process, so there is definitely a shift happening.
What changes or progression do you hope to see in your industry?
Increase in diversity of the ethnicities of females in the workplace.
What or who inspired you to make the move into the tech industry?
I work for a MarTech start up – I knew I wanted to work in a startup as I enjoy autonomy and wanted a challenge. I was inspired to work in this specific industry after meeting Sam Royle, our CEO, who inspired me with his determination, commitment and creativity to succeed in this industry.
What projects are you currently working on?
Working in a start-up you often wear many hats, so I’m currently looking for new brands to join the platform, managing key client accounts and hiring new team members.
What’s your ultimate career goal?
To wake up everyday, loving what I do!
What’s your proudest achievement to date?
Working with and getting to meet, so many amazing brands (big and small) over my career journey in various different industries.
What does being part of a social community mean to you?
As a start up, social working is essential for us as a team. It allows us to network, make friends and makes you feel as if you are part of a wider community. There is always a buzz in the office, even if there are only three people from your team in!
