Meet Beck Marriott, Co-Founder of events management agency We Love This.
To celebrate International Women’s Day WHICH WAS THIS WEEK on 8th March, we’ll be shining a spotlight on some of our own members making a difference in the creative, digital and tech industries. THIS FEATURE HIGHLIGHTS Beck Marriott, co-founder of EVENTS MANAGEMENT COMPANY we love this AND NOW MEMBERS AT DEPARTMENT LEEDS DOCK.
In-House Health work with ambitious digital tech organisations, using a data-first approach to establish and eliminate the root cause of issues such as work-related stress and employee burnout.
Who or what inspired you to start We Love This?
Ah it was over a cold beer in Hyde Park, in 2005, with my then-boyfriend, (now husband, father of our 2 children and business partner extraordinaire) Lee!
We had a clear and simple ambition – to run events and work for ourselves. We’d worked together at an agency, and learned what we liked, what didn’t work, and had a clear vision of what we’d do differently if we were running things ourselves.
Ten years later and we are still going strong (stronger than we’d ever anticipated coming out of Covid). We have been really fortunate throughout the years that we’ve been able to build great teams of people who’ve supported our journey, and we’ve worked with, and continue to work with, some real bucket list brands. We truly love what we do (hence the company name!) which definitely helps in the day-to-day; being married, having kids, running a business together and making events happen is definitely not for the faint hearted, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
What projects are you currently working on?
We work with a whole range of clients; across corporate, retail and lifestyle sectors, on a whole range of events, from corporate conferences, to national retail roadshows and everything you could think of in between. I absolutely LOVE a press event; it’s in my DNA and we are fortunate enough to work with some great retail brands who allow us creative freedom to deliver their messaging.
What is your ultimate career goal?
We want to develop the WLT brand to have more facets; while events and production will always be our first love, we’d love to develop into other areas of our passions. From a lifestyle store, a little B&B, a clothing brand. Hopefully over the next year or so, some of these plans will come into fruition – watch this space!
What’s your proudest achievement to date?
Without a shadow of a doubt having Pinterest as a client! As well as being such a personal fan of the brand, almost all of our projects start with a Pinterest board when we’re exploring creative ideas and getting the cogs turning, so being able to work with a company that we genuinely LOVE, we get giddy every time a brief comes in.
